Robert Dean Sculptor








































Robert E. Dean, sculptor, was born and raised in Waurika, Oklahoma. Robert graduated from Duncan High School in 1966. He attended Christian College in 1967, Central State University in 1968, and the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in 1969. Dareld Swinford, a pioneer of wire welding, forever influenced Robert's life.

Robert was inducted into the United States National Guard in 1969, receiving an honorable discharge in 1975 as a Specialist 5 Senior Carpenter. Robert spent 5 years working under his father, Horace V. Dean, with Better Homes in Duncan as a custom homebuilder. He then worked for Jan L Construction, in Marlow, for 13 years as a commercial superintendent.

In 1988, Robert completed his education at U.S.A.O. Graduating in 1991 with a B.A. In Art and certified in the State of Oklahoma as a Visual Arts Teacher. He has been an art teacher in the Chickasha Public Schools for 11 yeas and was awarded teacher of the year in 2001.

Robert's bronze sculpture of Zachary T. Huber, one of many sculptures, has been added to a permanent display at Langston Universtiy. Robert has a larger than life elk sculpture on display at the Great Plains museum. Roberts family resides in Medicine Park, Ok., where his larger than life Buffalo sculpture is a permanent fixture in front of the Mercantile. The 12 foot Eagle is permanently owned and displayed at the Wichata Mt. Lodge. Robert's unique welded wire Native American Chiefs are being collected by many. He recently finished a huge Galapagos Tortoise for Peter Erdos of Norman, Oklahoma. He finished Bison Latifrons September 23 and is on display at the Great Plains Museum. Robert's next commission is a larger than life panther.
